NEWS - Updated December 22nd 2020
Edited 22nd December with some updates:
It's been a very fraught year for many people, and with the Coronavirus wreaking havoc throughout 2020, sadly many planned events have had to be cancelled, and many of our members have not have the opportunity to ride many rides this year.
We have all had to adapt to the changes; and I am sure many of us are still struggling to adjust to the "new normal".
The committee recently met again to discuss the plans for the end of this year, the BAM and what to do about Trophies and Awards this year.
TROPHIES AND AWARDS
Submissions for awards are NOW CLOSED. Any future upgrade AWARDS will need to be carried over now to the end of next season.
As you will know from the previous update, it was decided that for this year, we will only honour the following awards for our members, and these should have been applied for on the Trophy Card in the usual way ( see the details on how to do this HERE:
- Distance Awards
- Upgrade Awards
We had asked you to complete your trophy cards and send these in by 4/12/202. We will make arrangements with you to post your awards out this time, so please ensure you provide your address when you complete the card. As a reminder, distance awards are available from the Cromwell EGB Group for the first 100km, then 250km, 500km, 1000km, 1500km and 500km increments thereafter. Upgrade awards are for horse and / or rider when you progress from Novice to Open, Open to Advanced, etc.
Anyone holding a trophy from last year, we suggest that unless you are able to safely return these to Lisa before the end of this year, please keep hold of them safely until the end of NEXT season.
B.A.M. - SUNDAY 10th January 2021 19:00 via ZOOM!
Next year, we will proceed with the annual BAM via a "ZOOM" meeting. As there will be no awards to distribute, it felt considerably safer to plan for a virtual session, given that guidance has been unchanged on social gatherings for some time now. As such, please note the date in your diaries. Following advice from EGB, we are now requesting that you register for attendance VIA MY CLUBHOUSE. Apologies if you have already registered via this website, but can you please register again via MY CLUBHOUSE. The event is now online to book onto. We will remind all members nearer the time. We will then email the ZOOM details to you on the morning of the B.A.M. We are unable to publish these details on here or on Facebook, so please do ensure you register for this so we can contact you nearer the time. The BAM is not just about a meal and awards, it is also a mandatory requirement as we need to elect the committee and confirm or re-elect the roles of Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.
We are anticipating some changes next year, and are seeking some new members for the committee due to some vacancies as some of our existing members are standing down. If you are a full EGB member, have a passion for the sport, and can spare a few hours a year to get involved; maybe you have some great training ideas or want to get involved in planning a ride. Whatever your motivation we welcome new committee members, so please can you contact us via , via or the Facebook Group, directly to Susan Cox (Susanvcox@hotmail.co.uk) or via an existing member of the committee in order to register your interest.
Winter Training Plan
Keep checking back here for updates on news, and other events as and when we are able to schedule something. All being well we should be able to resume some training sessions in the new year.
"On the Hoot Training", with Maggie Pattinson - Maggie is running some Virtual Dressage sessions throughout the winter. Check out her website HERE for more details on how you can get involved in the January virtual session. She also hosts Webinars which may be of interest to our members.
Finally, if any of you have any ideas on Webinars, or other online activities that other members may be interested in, please do contact us to see whether we can offer something during these difficult times.
In the meantime, stay safe everyone and remember, "Hands, Face, Space", enjoy a quieter and very safe Christmas and a Happy New Year and hopefully we will see you all at the BAM on 10th January, albeit virtually.
Thank you, Your Committee
